The helpline answers questions specific to herpes diagnosis and treatment, as well as communication between partners and with health care providers. Additionally, the service provides referrals to a network of ASHA-coordinated support groups, called HELP Groups, including, at the time of publication of this directory, two in New Jersey.

This helpline provides specialists who answer calls on more than twenty sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, as well as pelvic inflammatory disease, and other related conditions. Also offered is a Group Calls Program that allows callers to turn a call into a group learning experience through the use of a speakerphone. This program has been used to provide STD/AIDS education to classroom students, educators, health care workers and parents.

This helpline provides 24-hour information and referral for individuals seeking guidance about AIDS and AIDS testing. Personnel can explain test procedures and illnesses, locate testing sites and provide assistance in finding social support organizations
